The Flower Challenge #20 REMINDER

We are more than half way through the Challenge and here to remind you
about The Flower Challenge using Acetate/Vellum and show you some more ideas.

I want to also take a moment to remind everyone to please check out the updated rules on the reminder post at The Flower Challenge.  Take the time to read them and understand that though they may look like lots, its really only trying to be clear on what is needed for an enjoyable Challenge. Very much appreciated.

Right now lets get to my card. Yes I have gone vellum again, I so love the look of flowers painted in on vellum. This time my vellum has a pale pink shimmer to it. I have white embossed my pattern.

It has embossed beautifully, always remembering to use that anti static pillow to avoid white speckles (or too many of them anyway). Another new to me stamp from The Ton "Riotous  Wildflower"
Isn't it just stunning.

Not sure if you can see the slight shimmer to the pink vellum but you can see the pale colour here.

I have again used Zigs only, no water each time using pink, red and orange in strong colour very fine line and pulled out colour with the palest I had in each colour. I wiped the pale  brush off every now and then on my cloth if I felt the colour was staying too strong. I did the same with my leaves.

I attached the panel with a slight fold over so I could add tape at the back then put little bits of tape behind different flowers to hold secure. All finished off with this beautiful 'celebrate' from MFT and I do love cutting these words out of mirror cardstock.
A perfect card to Celebrate 'Mothers Day' a birthday, a Marriage or just life itself.

Now off you go and check out the amazing cards the rest of the Design Team has designed to get you motivated. Thank you so much for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

Hello Friend

A simple little card that grew as I went. It started out very CAS with just the Rabbit and teddy bear sitting in the air chatting. They are a MFT set and they come with some amazing sentiment but I ended up using a diecut to go with it. After I had coloured the pair

I decided they needed some scenery. I don't recommend this way to add colour as its more fiddly and next time I will do them and diecut the shapes or even make sure I have proper masks. But of course

the ideas hit after the fact and I just went with the flow and improvised. We have a wee bit of green on my cute rabbits feet but hey maybe he was frolicking in the lush wet grass and his fur got stained. I copic coloured my rabbit and teddy then started on the background.

The background was done with MFT stencils for clouds and hills and I used Distress Ink. First time with the clouds so my layers were a bit wonky but I liked what I saw. I added shadow around the friends with copics. Added the die cut 'hello friend' to finish it off.

I loved those stencils, I can feel a stencil time coming on. Lots more backgrounds. Take so much of the work out of things with these amazing ideas.

The Flower Challenge #20 Acetate/Vellum

Its time for a new Challenge over at  The Flower Challenge
and as you can see by our wonderful button here its Acetate or Vellum.
I went Vellum.

Could I be anymore in love with a background stamp than this one? I just don't know.
So so easy to colour. This time I have gone with Zigs, no water, pure intense colour.

Yes its as bold in real life as it looks here and I love it. I couldn't bare to cut one inch off it. I left it as it is, trimming off the barest edges. Three colours used, hot pink, bright orange and yellow, if you want to know the exact colours (Numbers) let me know and I will get them for you.

Each time I added colours in a section, pink or orange then pulled it forward with the yellow then just played around. The embossing was gold embossed onto vellum and the vellum is quite thick so holds up well.

I finished up by adding to a card base 5 1/2 x 5 1/2, white embossed the 'Mere Color' sentiment and trimmed the panel so it was just wide enough but wrapped around so I could secure inside the card and finished off with a few yellow sequins.

Colouring on vellum with Zigs is super easy and if you want the colour lighter then use a dark colour and more it round with a very light colour. Keep cleaning off the light brush to remove the dark colour to keep the layer light if thats what you want to achieve. Use no or very little water as the vellum can end up warping or bubbling.

I have also used Wink of Stella to add sparkle and thin colour out and spread colour as well. Experiment. I paint on the front of the card inside the embossing.

I have also used Copics with vellum and it looks fantastic but be warned they do say that the copic tip can be damaged if it brushes against embossed ink edges. There are people who colour on the other side to avoid this. I like to colour on the same side as I like bright but I do try to be very careful and don't pick images with lots of small fiddly embossing on them.

I love my Copics and haven't ruined any yet and don't want to so I am extra careful but I have noticed a couple of times the times have become white and I worry this may mean having to replace them so do be aware they can be damaged.

Vellum can also be played over a brightly coloured image to soften the image. Don't forget to go see the beautiful creations the Design Team has done, and who has used Vellum and who Acetate.

Thank you so Much for coming to visit and I hope you decide to join us this month at The Flower Challenge.

Love......

The Altenew flowers were stamped onto Canvas Watercolour paper but I ended up copic colouring and adding Wink of Stella for a little bit of bling to lift the colour a bit.I also did the leaves in grey instead of green for a different look.  After die cutting the flowers I diecut again this time in  yellow funfoam for a bit of contrast.

I have tilted the panel here so you can see that I have embossed with a new to me heart embossing folder. Love it.

Yes you can just see the sparkle from the Wink of Stella here.

The love die cut has been layered up 6 times, the final time in silver. This is all finished off
with some sparkly blue gems. A very simple pretty card.

Now I am using a never before used stamp. Another stunner from
The Ton, I do love their Rose stamps. This one I have white embossed on vellum.

I have coloured this flower with Zigs using two colours each time. a dark to start and lay down the colour and the lightest colour available to pull the colour out and create shadows etc. I don't use water at any time when working on vellum as that would just warp  the vellum. I lighten the paint my removing colour with lighter shades.

Although I stamped and coloured the whole rose I decided to die cut a stitched circle in the card front and placed the panel inside so you can see through the panel when the card is partly opened. I have added the 'Happy Birthday' diecut in gold glitter and some sparkly sequins.

I couldn't resist this one to finish up my collection for today. A small coloured image from Mo's Digital Pencil. After I finished colouring my inquisitive cat who looks a lot like he's thinking about dinner I decided to add a Hero Art die cut 'Hello' as I thought that might be less scary for the wee fish.

Does he look like he's looking through the water? Need to work on that fur a bit but it will do for now. The image fit perfectly in this die cut I purchased goodness knows how long ago and have hardly used. I really is a neat look an needs to be used more.

Image set into a red card, yep love it. hello silver glitter, love that too.
Finished off with sparkly gems what else is needed....mmmm now I'm thinking maybe I should have added Glossy Accents to the Fish Bowl, nah doesn't matter.

Happy Birthday to You

WARNING:  SUNGLASSES MAY BE NEEDED

Found this Distress Oxide panel in amongst my background panels and instantly thought of the new to me MFT 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU' Die. so I cut out all the pretty letters to use on a card but then of course decided to use the negative first. Trimmed it to size.

Added a copper sparkle sheet of paper to the base of the card then added the negative die cut to the
top. Put back all the little bits and pieces that get cut with the letters to fill it back in and of course found I had lost one piece.

Then the dilemma - I mean its not like Im going to have another piece just the same colours to get a colour match up and did I want to colour another piece, really this was a five minute put together between getting home from seeing mum and dad and setting off again to babysit the grandchildren. A spur of the moment inspiration.

I found a piece approx 1/8" trimmed from one side and I scissor shaped it. Can you spot which one is the replacement on. Tell me which one it is and why you think it is and the first correct answer gets a prize...........

So back to this blinding beauty, I decided it needed something else and so added from my pre coloured #mftstamps  Happy Hippos which when I went to the link are out of stock at MFT but they never ever take long to restock. You can go and subscribe and they will let you know when back in stock. They are also carried by a lot of other big suppliers so check around. They have the cutest images to colour, these are just a few. (I don't get commission for adding link or talking about this is just my personal opinion.)

How's that for a perfectly coloured cake to go with this background (you would think I loved these colours!!!), the bird and balloons up the top balance everything just perfectly with my little hippo and present at the bottom. No sequins needed on this card or Wink of Stella though Sophie assured me that glitter on the front would have made it even better Nanni.

Challenges:

Very rare for me to hit the topping twice in a challenge but
I think this card most certainly hits the spot.

Couldn't get much more sparkle on a project than this.

Thank you so much for coming to visit and I hope you drop by again soon.

Congratulations on Your New Home & With Love on Mothers Day

Two cards that came together very quickly with pre coloured images. Basically 15 minutes before I left home to go down to visit with mum and dad I got these ideas so you know me, I have to go with them. There are no particular challenges in mind for them I just wanted to make them.

Now I'm sitting in with mum and she has settled down for a snooze so I thought I would blog to pass the time. Mum is actually looking a bit better than I expected and ate something this morning, she is very frail now but where I had been told she isn't eating she did eat breakfast so that was good. She smiled at me a lot and loved having her neck rubbed and hair played with and of course she then dozed off. Gentle times.

I am loving these Katia Studio stamps Whimsical Town which I have to say I haven't finished with yet as there is still a road and boat and landscape so expect more. I saw a card on the internet done with the house white embossed and coloured with Distress Inks. I loved it and wanted to do a similar card.

I haven't looked at it again so I hope with fingers and toes crossed that its not exactly the same. I randomly coloured my white embossed houses with Distress Oxide, heavier at the bottom and lighter toward the top. Flicked a bit of water over them when finished then blotted up.

I then did the background with  Distress Oxides going from Peacock Feather at the bottom, Salty Ocean then Broken China very light then used the MFT cloud stencil and went over the top area again with Broken China to add clouds. I fussy cut the houses and added the houses using dimension foam tape. (This is one instance when having the die would have been better as the outline was too light for the Scan 'N' Cut and fussy cutting not as good as it could have been).

This next card

Simon Says Floral stamp, Copic coloured R81 R83 R85 and YG01 YG17. Cut out panel with stitched rectangle die. Added fun foam to the back of the panel.

You can just see the Wink of Stella on the flowers here.

I added pattern paper to the front of the card and then decided to add the ribbon you can see. So disappointed the ribbon looks bright pink here. It is actually very close in colour to the flower but all the photos show the ribbon as bright pink. Ahhh well you will just have to trust me on that, it is a very pretty match and I cant think why it is showing up so different in colour. You can just see the sentiment.
Both cards have part of the sentiment on the front and the rest of the sentiment inside.

Thank you so much for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

Challenges:

My first time playing at this challenge. Will add
'Congratulations on Your New Home'

Congratulations on Your New Home

With Love on Mothers Day
Copic Coloured is my favourite colouring medium because it achieves such a wonderful colour coverage and blend with so little effort. I love to paint and colour with pencils too but those are time consuming and take a lot more effort. Copics are like cheating, an easy way to make a beautiful picture.

Congratulations on Your New Home
